CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
Announcing a new service for emerging writers called iCAT Media STORIES.
GO HERE TO READ THE SCRIPTS...
Here's How it Works:
You submit the title, logline and the first 5-10 pages of your screenplay. Your story will be listed by genre in a new section of our online magazine zineCAT. Over 1000 industry professionals read zineCAT every week. When your script catches the eye of a professional reader, they will click a link that automatically sends an email to you, requesting the remainder of the script. It's up to you to decide to send your completed screenplay to that professional.

Answers to Important Questions:
Why are we offering this service? We recognize a need right now for high quality new material. Emerging writers have a very hard time reaching the people who can actually help them. iCAT Media STORIES will offer new writers an outlet for their best work and give industry professionals an easy, fast way to read the very latest scripts. It's a win-win situation!
Who might read my script? ZineCAT is read each week by, among others, agents, producers and commissioning editors.
Does this cost anything? There is no cost at this time to list your script in iCAT Media STORIES. Emerging writers are the least able to afford to buy access to industry professionals. How do I protect my idea? This is a big concern for new writers.
First of all, we insist that you register your script with the Writers Guild of Canada or the Writers Guild of America. The cost is minimal and you do not need to be a WGC or WGA member to protect your work.
For information about registering your script with the WGC, go to www.writersguildofcanada.com/script.html For information about registering your script with the WGA (including online registration), go to www.wga.org/registration
Secondly, we will only make a small part of your script available online. If you get a request for the whole script, you can decide if you want to release it to that person. We will not ask you to send your whole script to anyone but an industry professional. The plain fact is that you cannot sell your script if you don't get it out there.
Why just the first 10 pages? One reason is to protect your idea, as noted above. There is another reason: your writing must be able to grab the reader in the first few pages. Often that is your only chance to attract a buyer. Many readers will discard a script that isn't riveting by page 10. So, by only allowing the first ten pages to be read, we encourage you to make those ten pages count.
What if my idea is too high-concept to reveal? Some ideas are so compelling even the first 10 pages might give them away. In this case, we will publish a scene from deeper in the script that illustrates your ability to write and introduces a character or situation without giving the game away. It's up to you which scene to submit. We want to help you sell your script to the right Producer.
What if I have an agent? Due to the nature of the industry, we can only publish the work of emerging writers. If you feel this service will benefit you and you already have an agent, we would need written permission from your agent to publish an excerpt from your script.
Do you expect a percentage if I sell my script? We are not agents ourselves and so we do not anticipate charging a fee if you sell your script through exposure in iCAT Media STORIES.
How do I submit my story? Please email us the following:
- The title of your script
- A one-sentence logline
- The first 5-10 pages of the screenplay.
Once we receive your story, we will reply with a disclaimer and agreement. Please read that document carefully and then reply with "I Agree" in the subject line. Your script will appear in iCAT Media STORIES the following Friday as a PDF file.
We feel this new free service will help emerging writers to polish their craft. Please join us by submitting your stories today!
