CALLING ALL FILMMAKERS!
Zeeworks Media is looking for a team of skilled Trainee Assistant Directors and Production Assistants to assist May 27 and 28th on their Crazy 8 short film entitled "Crazy Late".
"Crazy Late" is one of the most technically ambitious single shots ever attempted for a short film. It is a single 10 minute long Steadicam shot that follows a groom who wakes up only 5 minutes before he is supposed to walk down the aisle. He runs through houses, a busy neighborhood, thwarts an attempted home invasion, finds his tux and a bouquet of flowers, and breathlessly arrives at his destination. As the film ends, the Steadicam operator mounts onto a crane, and soars above the wedding.
A single shot like this requires impeccable timing, and it is the AD department that will need to get the cues down, and help our talent so that we can execute this crazy shot. We are looking for enthusiastic and logistically minded people to work with 1st AD Clif Prowse and 2nd AD Tammy Bannister to help execute the choreography of the shot. This will be a great opportunity to be introduced to the AD department, and a unique and thrilling shoot to be a part of. Anyone interested should please contact 1st AD Clif Prowse at 604.970.2543 or Producer Chris Ferguson at 604.722.9709
Thanks very much
Clif Prowse

JILTED - AUDITION NOTICE
Old Man in the CrossWalk is commencing pre-production on their latest short film JILTED. Tentative shoots dates are: June 4- 5, 2005. JILTED is a deferral/waiver project.
Logline: Wallowing in a full bathtub while wearing her wedding gown, a jilted bride contemplates suicide as her family members come and go from the washroom. Each family member represents one of the five stages of grief, and in their own dysfunctional way, ease the bride through her pain towards acceptance.
While certain roles have been filled, the following cast members will be auditioned for:
THE BEST FRIEND: In her late -20's, unusually beautiful and/or exotic, and a little on edge. Subtle comedic timing. The Best Friend hurries in to fix her makeup before a "chat" with the stray groom during which she thinks she'll "smooth it all out". She refuses to believe SHE had anything to do with the break-up, even though "nothing happened" with the groom last night.
THE BROTHER of the jilted Bride: Early to Mid-20's. Dark hair (or dyed), 5 o'clock shadow, punchy/edgy. The Brother has gotten deliberately drunk in order to NOT kill the groom. He knows something is up i.e. the Best Friend, but can't figure it all out as he's too inebriated. Even though he is pissed that he is pissed he manages to thwart The Bride's pill cocktail plans.
The MOTHER of the jilted Bride: 50 55, elegant, slim, and well put together. The MOTHER sneaks in on the pretense of hiding a large piece of wedding cake from The Bride's father. She has spent her life making little deals with herself and others. "Just because you don't have the man doesn't mean you can't have the cake," she tells The Bride.
Script available. Please forward headshot & resume via email or website link. Or if you have any questions please contact:

WORKOUT WITH A DIRECTOR
I have started up a drop-in for actors. Well… it is a little different from the normal actors' drop-in. It is really a workout for myself to better my skills at directing. Examples of what we do are: take scenes I've written and do a cold reading, I give some direction and we go again; I give actors characters in specific situations and with specific secrets and improv a scene; sometimes I will ask the actors to take the scenes home to prepare them and bring them back the following week.
This is not a class and I am not a teacher (though I always hope that both of us will learn something no matter how small). It is happening on Wednesday nights starting at 7:00 pm at the Cineworks Studio (Suite 300, 1131 Howe Street - back lane entrance) and the cost is $2. Please email Dale at dc@1em.biz if you are interested.
