AUSTIN FILM FESTIVAL SCREENPLAY COMPETITION
The Austin Film Festival has extended the Screenplay Competition postmarked deadline to June 1, 2005. Screenplays can be submitted into  either the Adult/Family or Comedy category. You may then also choose to be considered for the NEW Burnt Orange or Sci-Fi awards.

The AFF and Burnt Orange Productions are searching for the best low  budget screenplay that could be FILMED in Texas (does not have to be set  in Texas). Burnt Orange (www.burntorangeproductions.com) will consider the winning script for production.

The Sci-Fi Award will be looking for the best script containing one of the following elements: fantasy, magic realism, horror, surrealism, science fiction, myth/legend and/or fantastical storytelling. Joe Bob Briggs (http://www.joebobbriggs.com) will participate as a Finalist  judge for this award.

1. PEOPLE'S PILOT and SPEC SCRIPTACULAR writing contests sponsored by TV Writer.Com, WriteSafe.Com, and Cloud Creek Institute For The Arts. Entries for both contests are due on or before June 1, 2005 if sent in as direct online uploads, or must be postmarked no later than June 1, 2005 if sent by <gulp> snail mail.

The PEOPLE'S PILOT is for great new series ideas, and all you have to do is send in a proposal/presentation. The show can be any genre - drama, action, sitcom, reality, game, lifestyle, animation, kids show, you name it - and can be intended for broadcast networks, cable channels, PBS, even local stations - regardless of country. CINECITY - OUT ON SCREEN: SCRIPT COMPETITION 
Three scripts will be short-listed for a public read at the Vancouver Queer Film + Video Festival, August 4-14, 2005.

The winning script, as decided by an Out On Screen + Citytv jury, will be awarded $5000 in development funds.

I'M A LITTLE PICKLED THEATRE COMPANY 
Playwrighting Contest

We are pleased to announce the search for a playwright to create an original show for our theatre company to produce.

This is a pilot program that will coincide with our first full season beginning in September 2005. The season will be comprised of four plays running for two weeks each. The fourth and final show of the season will be the original play by the winning writer and will run for two weeks in May 2006.

I'm A Little Pickled Theatre Company prides itself in producing shows that are rarely produced. We like to take risks with subject matter. I'm A Little Pickled Theatre Company is a Registered Non Profit Theatre Society and is an equal opportunity artist platform. Our purpose is to create live theatre that evokes emotion. To have fun with what we love. Plain and simple. Nothing more, nothing less.

Application fee - $10 Canadian (via cash, money order or certified cheque).

Phone interviews with five finalists will take place on July 15, 2005.
The announcement of the winning playwright will be made on or before August 1, 2005.
Full script is not required. Story line and character outline is suggested.
Completed script of the winning writer will be required in January 2006 for a public reading in February 2006. A video and panel review will be sent to the playwright following the reading.

Award of the grand prize will be divided into two payments. $500 will be issued upon announcing the successful applicant, and $1500 will be issued on Opening Night of the play.

This contest is open to absolutely anyone with the creativity to write a play! Regardless if you live in Australia or in Sudan, or if you are 15 or 75 you have equal opportunity. All plays and correspondence must be translated into English. Subject matter and Musicals are open. We will accept complete, not yet produced scripts for consideration. Scripts will not be returned.
